What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is when a business or publisher promotes another brand’s product to generate sales through custom links. Online businesses and publishers use affiliate marketing to monetize their websites.

For example, if a publisher reviews a product on their blog or YouTube channel, they may place links in a description or blog post that redirects people to the product landing page. The link contains a tracking code that associates it with the publisher. If someone were to buy a product through the publisher’s link, the publisher would be granted a small commission on the sale.

Affiliate marketers are also referred to as brand ambassadors, partners, or referrals.

On Digital Zen, affiliate marketing links may be used similarly as a potential revenue stream for the site. Posts that contain affiliate marketing links will have a disclaimer at the beginning of the post that reads, “This article contains affiliate marketing links.”

My goal will always be only to promote products I use or have a genuine interest in.
